About Sam

Hi, my name is Sam Rider. I'm a freelance journalist, copywriter and editor specialising in sport and fitness. For five years I was fitness editor for the UK's leading fitness title, Men's Fitness magazine, owned by Dennis Publishing in London.

Responsible for monthly profile features, I interviewed rock stars and pop stars, heavyweights and broadcasting greats. I met winners of World Cups and Premier Leagues, Olympic Games and Academy Awards.

I made life-long friends, built lifetime contacts, bagged covers and authored books. I even subjected my body to an unholy transformation, all in the name of research.

Then in 2016 I went it alone to explore new projects, expand my writing portfolio and help rebrand fitness and exercise as a joy, not a chore. This is my portfolio and blog following that journey and this is me on LinkedIn.

I've had the pleasure of working closely with a wide range of media and global brands, helping them make fitness accessible, engaging and entertaining. These include The Guardian, The Telegraph, National Geographic, Men's Health, Gentleman's Journal, Under Armour, Maximuscle, UNILAD Fitness, Coach Magazine, Protein Dynamix, Decibel Nutrition, Wingback and the luxury wellness company Bodyism, among others.

I know first hand that fitness is so much more than superfoods and sit-ups – it's a passion that motivates, empowers and enriches. I can help you spread that message.
